Neither a sign/planet is good nor it’s bad
Let’s not use Sign, Sign lord, Planets, bla, bla, bla and try understanding the 8th house
8th house energy, 8th house astrology
What is the 8th house: Fear for most of the people?
Why is it so: Most of the books mentioned – Death, Accidents, Pain, Occult, In-Laws and many more negative things.
But we, as learners know that the 8th house can make great scientists, doctors, researchers and occult practitioners (just to list a few).
Then what’s the problem and how to identify whether 8th is good for any Jataka?
As per KP Astrology, the 12th from any house is NEGATION of that house. So 7th becomes the negation for 8th.

What does it mean?
If your 7th house is good, that can save you from the bad effect of 8th.
Let’s understand 7th house – Spouse, People other than you, Maternal Grand Maa, Your 2nd Child, Your father’s elder brother and so on…
Now here are the rules to analyze 8th house
Understand Jataka’s life path and his/her desires like Jataka’s personality, his/her education/career, If married then married life and what he/she thinks of the opposite sex (negative thoughts about the opposite sex will damage your married life).
If Jataka is on the spiritual path or occult practitioner then anyhow 8th is good for him but in that case, married life suffers (max cases – if deeply involved) – 7th down so 8th up and it’s helpful to Jataka.
If someone’s married life and relationship with others are good, it means 7th is good so 8th can’t harm that person. Revisit the story of Savitri & Satyavan – the power of relationship – strong 7th house. Our shastra suggests – always respect your partner (Ram-Sita/Shiv-Parvati)
You might be thinking of what about scientists, doctors and other similar professionals – Just look around – these kinds of great professionals do not have a good 7th house – Away from family/“other people”, married life is suffering (exceptions are always there).
So if you are not 8th house energy seeker then make sure you work on your 7th house or your 7th house should be good.
What? Only good 7th house can save me from bad different types of 8th house energy.
No, It’s not just 7th house. Which house is Bhagya of yours? Yes, it’s 9th.
9th from any house is a saving grace – correct?
So, 9th from 8th is your 4th house.
Oh “Mumma” you saved me – hope you got it.
Let’s continue understanding 8th house…
Today, first let’s understand how the 9th house can save you from the negative energy of the 8th house
What is 9th house? Dharma, Bhagya, Father, 1st sister-in-law, and many more things.
Too many things to cover in one post… correct?
Let’s restrict ourselves to “Dharma”.
What is dharma?
Is it performing puja, doing meditation, leaving home and living in the Himalayas thinking Shiva will come and bless you?
Is it religion?
What exactly is it?
Dharma as per Gita - Path, A Journey to reach the highest form of energy.
That doesn’t mean just a spiritual path. It means - performing your karma as it is defined.
Rajeev don’t confuse us. Come to the point.
Oh sorry! As per definition, doing karma is a responsibility without getting attached or detached from it.
When you do that in the above-said manner your 9th house improves or a good 9th house reflects that.
How can we do that as everything is predefined based on past life karma?
Sorry, dear, there is free will. Jeeva the Jupiter
Can we do the karma with free will?
Yes, God has given that opportunity to everyone
Everyone!!! How it’s possible Rajeev, every individual is different.
Ok, let me explain!
For all of us 9th is dharma and the 10th house is karma
Why 9th ruled by Ju and the 10th ruled by Shani? Why not the other way?
Because Jeeva comes first to give you the free will to decide how to perform karma- as per dharma/nature or our one way.
If you perform as per dharma, you are on the right path but
If you perform in your way then you are preparing yourself for the next life.
Man! These philosophies are good to hear but how to use them in Astrology?
Ah! By bad! I entered into the next level or first level of Astrology (think why I said so!!!)
Let me explain how to use it in Astrology!
When you look at Jataka’s chart, just see the 9th house sign, its lord, planets, aspects and conjunction to judge how much Jataka is following dharma to perform his karma.
If you see Jataka not following Dharma, you can simply predict that the negative impact of the 8th house will manifest (When: look at Dasha & Transits).
Technique: To check Jataka’s way of performing karma is not just limited to the 9th house. You should check the 9th from all the houses (H1, H2, H3,…, H12) and then wherever you find Jataka is not following dharma, You can predict that the 8th house's negative energy will impact him/her concerning that house.
Let me give you one example 1: (happy!)
In a Jataka’s chart,
Step 1: Let's focus on the mother (4th house)
Step 2: 9th from 4th house is 12th house
Step 3: Let's suppose you identified that Jataka is not following his Karma in Dharmik way with regards to his/her mother (through Sign, lord, conjunction, aspect, transit)
Step 4: Then negative energy of 8th from 4th will surface which is 11 house
Conclusion: Jataka will face issue related to his/her source of income, other things…
Example 2: Let’s take it from Mahabharata
Consider Duryodhana’s Chart
We all know what he did with Draupadi so no doubt that his 9th from house indicating Draupadi would have been afflicted.
Let’s figure out House indicating Draupadi in his char.
Duryodhan – Lagna
His Father (Dhritrashtra) – 9th house
Dritrashtra younder brother (Pandu) – 3rd from 9th – 11th house
Pandu’s 1st child (Yudhishthir) – 5th from 11th – 3rd house
Wife of Yudhishthira (Draupadi) – 7th from 3rd – 9th house
We all know that Duryodhana did not follow dharma when it comes to Draupadi means 9th from 9th (Draupadi’s house) is afflicted. Dharma down so 8th negative energy will show up.
Which house is 8th from 9th (Draupadi’s house) – 4th house
What is 4th house – Throne – Duryodhana lost his Kingdom
